Your Agent And You

If you're buying or selling a home in Gilbert, Arizona, you may think that just because you live in a small city, that you don't have as many options as you would if you were trying to choose a Mississauga real estate agent. While this is true, you have more choice than you might think. There are over a dozen agencies in Gilbert, each with several representatives, so there's no excuse for putting up with a realtor you have a bad relationship with. How can you tell if your relationship is good? Consult this guide.

Respect

You and your realtor may only have a business relationship, but like any relationship, for it to work it must be based upon respect. Your realtor should have respect for you, your values, opinions, and goals. You should also show your realtor respect by acknowledging that he or she is the expert and is able to provide you with valuable advice that you should take into consideration. Try not to compare your agent to your old Annex real estate agent and simply take him or her as she is.

Interest

This may seem optional if all you really want is to buy or sell your house, but your realtor should actually be interested in finding you a home or in selling your home, and not just because of the commission they'll be receiving for their services. He or she should care whether you're getting what you wanted (e.g. enough money to buy one of those Mississauga homes for sale you had your eye on, a backyard pool, a good neighborhood for your kids).

Communication

Your real estate agent is the one with the local knowledge and the expertise to get your home bought or sold quickly. However, he or she can't do so unless the two of you coordinate. You need to tell your realtor about the features of that home on the Trent Severn Waterway you admired. Your realtor needs to tell you if a home you might like has come on the market, and you should both be willing to call or meet up as often as necessary to get the process done to the satisfaction of both parties.

Dedication

It's a test of your relationship if the home sale you and your realtor are working together on is not going as planned. Few things do, from the construction of Erin homes to the running of countries, so you should both be willing to stick it out and work through the issues. Your realtor should give your project enough of his or her time and energy to get it done properly, and you should keep the faith and not pull out, ruining all his or her work and denying him or her a commission.
